Photographer Hal Miller
One never knows who’s going to show up at the PurpleHull Pea Festival and contribute his or her skills.
At the 2002 and 2003 festivals, we were blessed with the presence of Hal Miller of Campbell, Missouri. Hal showed up with some fancy digital cameras, and promptly proceeded to take hundreds of photos of the festival and tiller race.
One quick look at Hal’s work convinced us the guy is no amateur. He’s awfully, awfully good.
Of the almost 1,000 shots he took, he shared each and every one with us. Most of the shots you see on this Web site from the 2002 and 2003 festivals were taken by Hal. Many were also used by several newspapers reporting on the festival.
One thing we had been lacking was a good photographic record of our event. We’re extremely grateful to Hal for providing something which had been absent, and issue to him the honorary title of Emerson PurpleHull Pea Picker.

Hal, thank you, and we hope you’ll attend again.
