The first PurpleHull Pea Festival Quilt has been completed and is now
ready for display at the festival in Emerson June 30.
Even better, some lucky person will take this beautiful work of art home
with them.
The quilt, the product of over a dozen Emerson area quilters, will be
raffled off, with the winner to be announced during the festival’s
“Pea-Stompin’ Street Dance” Saturday evening.
You do not have to be present to win.
Tickets for a chance at the quilt are $2, and may be purchased the day of
the festival, or from PurpleHull Pea Festival Committee members prior to the
festival.
Proceeds from the raffle will go toward the festival’s goal of
acquiring property for a park in Emerson.
The quilt, designed by Kay Emmert, is predominantly purple in color, and
took two months to complete.
It will be on display in the Emerson High School new gymnasium during the
festival, as will other quilts made by local quilters.
Those involved with piecing together the quilt say they intend to
make this an annual event and produce a quilt for each future festival.
The Emerson PurpleHull Pea Festival & World Championship Rotary
Tiller Race will be Saturday, June 30.
